Dance Performance & Teacher Training
The first year of both the Dance Performance & Teacher Training programme and the Musical Theatre programme offer the same training providing a thorough grounding in the various core subjects. This gives a well-rounded understanding to the theoretical and performance aspects of dance, musical theatre and teaching. Continual assessments are held throughout the first year of the course to monitor progress.
The dance performance and teacher training programme is divided into three main areas of study; dance, musical theatre and teaching. The course offers a wide variety of subjects including classical ballet, modern theatre, tap, contemporary and a variety of jazz styles (including hip-hop and street), Latin American, ballroom, disco, National and musical theatre.
Other modules of study include double work, creative choreography, audition practice work, body toning, stretching and Pilates.
Additional studies may be taken in music and A-Level dance.
In order to graduate students must achieve a high level of recognition in internationally recognised examinations with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD). Further examinations also available with the Royal Academy of Dance.
